Events Assistant - Chat and Chill
Would you like to help library staff running a craft and chat based session for 11 to 16 year olds?
Chat and Chill sessions are fun and informal drop-in opportunities for teens to chat, play board games, do adult colouring, get involved in small crafting projects e.g. cartooning, jewellery making, etc. and also for them to contribute to service developments for their age group in Rutland Libraries. Volunteers help plan, prep and deliver the sessions, chat with the young people that come in, and clear up after the session.
Ideally you will have an interest in reading (particularly modern young adult fiction or graphic novels & comics), gaming and/or crafting is ideal for this role. We are looking for a fun, tolerant and responsible individual with the ability to engage positively with 11-16yr olds and encourage them to spend quality time in our library. You will either already have, or be willing to gain, Safeguarding knowledge.
We offer a great team atmosphere and fun working environment. Regular volunteer coffee mornings. Experience for a CV. Agreed expenses such as parking.
We will require references and a DBS check.
When: The first Saturday of the month from 10.30 to 12.30 plus occassional sessions during school holidays.
